Trail camera upgrade service from handykam.com

Software (firmware) upgrade and health check service
All electronic devices have software that controls the electronics. When trail cameras or camera traps get released they come with software already installed. This is called a firmware.  Over time there are slight improvements to software that need to be updated. This can improve performance as well as iron out any potential issues not spotted when released. Often the firmware upgrades are placed on manufacturers websites and left for users to update. However, this can be a difficult process. We are here to help.

Firmware upgrade for Bushnell 119876

Bushnell have just released a much needed update for the Bushnell 119876. The new aggressor firmware fixes a couple of issues that some were experiencing with that model. Issues include:

  • Return of fixed length options for movies.
  • Improved Dynamic video recording; Up to two minutes in daytime mode , 15 seconds in night-time at max LED and 1 minute in medium LED and low LED settings.
  • More efficient on batteries usage
Update firmware
Firmware is software that is on the chip of the camera to tell the camera what to do. Virtually all electronics have firmware (software). Some electronics need updating to improve features or solve bugs.

Check your firmware number.
First check that you have a 119876 trail camera. This is on the back of the camera. Next, start camera in setup mode and navigate to firmware. This will tell you what firmware you have. Look at the last 3 numbers. They should be lower than 240. ie  221. The update will change this to 240. See below:

How to upgrade firmware (Using windows)
Please note that this is an indication only. The steps have been given by Bushnell for most cameras for this model. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that this will fully work on your camera and cannot take any responsibility for damage to your camera in this process. If very concerned, please contact Bushnell for clarification.

  1. Download files from Bushnell and unzip them.  (Normally, just open it in windows)
  2. Copy both files onto SD card from the zip file attached. (DO NOT place into DCIM folder, if there is still a file on the SD card, format the SD card and place at the root of it)
  3. Make sure your camera has good battery power as half installing firmware can damage your camera.
  4. SD card into your Trophy Cam (Off), along with a full set of batteries.
  5. Press and hold the Up Arrow button, while holding the Up Arrow, slide the power switch from “off” to “setup.” .
  6. A Green LED (on the front of the camera) will begin flashing and you can release the Up Arrow. (The Green LED is located in the same location as the RED PIR indicating LED, which will flash as well when motion is detected.) .
  7. When Green LED stops flashing (can take up to a minute), the update is complete, (you can check the new firmware version in the menu to make certain).
  8. Power OFF your Trophy Cam when the update is complete and empty your sd card for future use.
Hope this helps,
